After 2.5 years of working full time and going to school part time, I graduated in December, 2016, with my Master of Arts in English, with a research (thesis) concentration. I defended my thesis, entitled “From Watchman to Mockingbird: Tay Hohoff’s Editorial Influence on Harper Lee,” in late November and passed with distinction, an unexpected honor for which I’m very grateful. In the coming months I plan to continue my research, expanding upon other leads that couldn’t make it into my thesis due to timing. It’s been an honor to work alongside many of my peers in the VCU M.A. program, as well as faculty. More than anything, I’m looking forward to the next chapter in continuing research and continuing education.
